›Mute Sound Word. Talking with Beethoven‹ ist eine Performance und Sound-Installation — eine Konversation zwischen Kalligraf*in Em Krallmann und Komponistin Maya Shenfeld — zu Ehren des 250. Geburtstags Beethovens. Beethoven verlor im Laufe seines Lebens die Fähigkeit zu Hören, so mussten seine Gäste via Konversationsheften mit ihm kommunizieren. Diese wertvollen Dokumente des Lebens und Denkens Beethovens stehen im Mittelpunkt dieses Projektes. Es bedient sich dieser auf außerordentliche Weise dokumentierten Konversationen als Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung einer inneren und äußeren Kommunikation. Dabei erforschen die Künstlerinnen das Spannungsfeld zwischen dem Hörbaren und Unhörbaren, den realen und imaginären Klanglandschaften.

„Mute Sound Word. Talking with Beethoven“ is a live performance and sound installation introducing a conversation between visual artist Em Krallmann and composer Maya Shenfeld, in tribute of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary. Having lost his ability to hear halfway through his life, Beethoven used a conversation notebook in order to communicate with others. This work takes these rare conversations as a starting point for an investigation of inwards and outwards communication, exploring the tension between audible and inaudible, present and imaginary soundscapes.
